Gáspár Károlyi Museum - Bible Exhibition

The installations of the Bible Exhibition (Károlyi Gáspár Museum, Gönc) were made in partnership

with  MOME TechLab. At the exhibition 9 interactive installations and a mobile application presents

the world of the Bible.

Dürer in Motion

The Dürer engravings show the life of Christ.

Algoritmic Zoo

Algorithmic Zoo is an installation that is introducing the different species (plants and animals) that

can be found in the Bible. The concept behind the piece comes from the act of collecting and

organizing cards, accessing data in a tactile and traditional way. Groceries, gardens, botanical

collections sometimes have beautifully crafted cards for display information. In some gardens,

these markers can be found near living plants, and the written names on the markers are acting

like “links” to the actual botanical beauty. This analogy is taken into digital technology: by selecting

a card and placing it onto a specific area on the table, the system recognizes the selected item

and displays extensive, relevant information on a screen. This information is indicating the

occurences of the chosen species in the Bible (displaying the name of the books and chapters),

some general background information on them and a graphic representation of the plant or the

animal.

Protestant Bible Translations

Explore the various Hungarian Protestant Bible translations and their translators. The map shows

the places related to their making while in the gallery you can look into the different  books.

 Locations of the Bible

The aim of the project is to showcase and tell three significant stories of the Bible. We used maps

to give visual feedback of the scenes or locations of the stories and paths as timeline for the

narrative.

First Names in the Bible

Several first names  - maybe yours as well - derives from the Bible. Can you guess which? The

task is to choose the name - out of three - which comes from the Bible. The correct answer, the

meaning of the name and the related quotation is shown in the installation, which has different

levels of difficulty based on the frequency of the names.

Proverbs and Sayings Coming from the Bible

A lot of our proverbs and sayings derive from the Bible. Make a guess which proverb comes from

the Bible. You can choose from three levels of difficulty. You will get to know the meaning of the

sayings and can read the biblical references.

Reformist Bible Translations

Scrolling down the pages the full script of the latest translation of the Bible can be read. It is

interesting to compare how each passage was translated in previous versions. You can read an

explanation of the different interpretations at the bottom of the page.

Odd One Out

10 Bible related pictures can be seen each with 3 odd objects or details. The task is to find

these objects by the fewest number of taps. At the beginning you can choose whether you will

find the odd one out by 30, 40 or 50 taps in all the pictures. In the menu you can find the relevant

passages of the Bible, which tells the story of the pictures.
